Schlakman Says: Forget the Band-Aids, Let's Cure the Disease!
Ian Schlakman, Green Party candidate for U.S. House of Representatives, District 2, is calling for his presumptive opponent Dutch Ruppersberger to extend his leadership efforts beyond half-measures for out-of-work Americans to systemic solutions to income inequality.
"Mr. Ruppersberger's request for stories and photos from unemployed Marylanders to promote extending jobless benefits for another 37 weeks is a bandage stuck on a deadly disease," Schlakman says, "and we need new people in Congress who are willing to admit the scope of the problem and introduce solutions."
"A basic income guarantee, universal single-payer health care and transition to a new economy focused on people rather than contractors are what we need to ensure the health of the American economy and American workers," Schlakman continued. "I will introduce these vital new initiatives to Congress. Marylanders deserve representatives who will take bold steps to ensure their economic health for generations, not limp into the future 37 weeks at a time."
Schlakman is a certified IT professional. He is campaigning for the foundation of a new, ecologically-sound economy, and end to the surveillance-driven security state, and a basic income guarantee for all Americans.
